Default Frigidaire Furnace Age.

My understanding was the first to digits were the month & year, or year & month. Either way, I seem to be having a hard time narrowing down the age of this furnace. Any help?

Model: FG6RC040C-12
Ser #: FG6000803790

Thank you,

tom

My understanding is the Frigidaire is manufactured by Nordyne. With Nordyne the third letter is the month followed by the year.

Is it possible that the "6" in the third position might have been a "G"? In that case it would be July of 2000.

Any other info on the label? Maybe an ANSI date? How old does it look? How old is the AC unit, many times they are the same brand and installed the same time? How old is the house? Are there any maintenance stickers on the unit or the ducts that indicate when it was serviced or inspected last? Is there a manufacture date on the label?

My money is still on 2000, but see if you've got some other hints that might narrow it down a bit. If I can't specifically date a unit, I make an estimate, like I would the roof. So I don't think there is anything wrong with telling your client that the unit is estimated to be approximately 10 years old, if you can't date it with the label. (Sometimes thats all you can do when there is no label.)

I'd be interested to know if someone else has better info than I on Nordyne/Frigidaire. My info is sketchy.

Not really, same drill, different bit. Were there other indicators as stated in my previous post?

Looking at photos. Didn't take any other info, since Frigidaire is a recognized name.

Hope this helps
Pre-1998 is the last 3 characters for the year and month.

1998 and later is the first three positions are model and series and the next four are year and month and the last five are production code.

So that would mean (after 1998 ) this would be August of 2000.
