The vent stack goes directly to the sheathing and into the vent on the roof--but the pipe barely makes it to the roof and is not secured (no ring around it). This is incomplete, right? Or am I missing something.

Is that furnace venting into part of the attic ventilation system or a vent boot?
It needs to vent to the exterior properly. ____________________________________________ "An Education, not just an Inspection" Larry Kage, CMI Lake Ann (Traverse City), Michigan 49650 231 929 3525 Professional Inspector and Infrared Thermographer serving the Traverse City, Michigan area and beyond. Thanks for the info Barry. Larry, this goes from the attic unit to the roof and on the roof there is a metal vent. This picture shows the furnace vent terminating just past the sheathing (but within the roof vent). Barry, looks like the best ting is to look at the manufacturer's instructions.
