Please Note:
Russell J. Hensel is a non-member guest and is in no way affiliated with InterNACHI or its members.
On the rear porch here in Florida there are 2 gas fireplaces and NOTHING protecting the front. Meaning that no chain screens, no glass doors...nothing. Can someone direct me into finding out what should/must be installed. THis appears to be very unsafe but I cannot specifically find where it states that a screen or glass door must protect the gas fireplace opening. Thanks in advance.....Russell

Check the manufacturer's instructions for the FP or gas log set.

I don't have the manufactures guidelines. I just thought it would stated in a code somewhere.

The damper should be blocked open or there should be a knockout in the damper so no matter what the flue is open.
