Default Need help from Pennsylvania HI's

Hello,

I am requesting help from anyone familiar with a possible law regarding the required yearly cleaning of chimney liners for an oil burning furnace.

My 75 year old mother-in-law lives in Allentown, PA. She was informed by her heating company the state law requires a yearly cleaning of the chimney liner for her oil burning furnace.

Is this an actual law in Pennsylvania, or is her heating company trying to take advantage of a senior citizen?

I appreciate any and all thoughts and opinions.

Thanks,

Ron Lind

Not a State law that I am aware of.

Chimneys are recommended to be cleaned annually but not legally required. I would ask the contractor to produce a copy of the Legal Requirement that he is referencing.
