Default Purpose of vent??

I was performing an inspection on a 2010 build home.

The heating system was a high efficiency Lennox furnace.

What is the purpose of the vent above the filter at the return that went to the blower compartment?

See attached pic.

That usually is the set up for a humidifier but I gave up trying to determine what people do, I did not see a humidifier in your pic

Not that that is the right way to do it, but is the system zoned?
