Kinda cool..... shut down so I couldn't test it but the home owner had it inspected recently ... all ok Dated 1944

Oops--never even entered my mind. You are absolutly correct, I bet it is asbestos wrap, however the wrap was not damaged at all so it would only be a problem if disturbed.
