What is the proper way to get temp differential at supply and return vents for the a/c. I've gotten different opinions. What is acceptable temp differential

PS...yes I take splits and, normally, look for 14 to 22 degree split. |

I don't take splits, but I do like to watch Jean-Claude Van Damm do the splits.
