Thermostat dead

Hi,

I received a phone call from my mother telling me that her thermostat is totally blank and she couldn't turn her AC on or anything. I've not been able to go over to check it out yet as I just got home from work. If anyone has any ideas as to where I can start looking, I'm open to suggestions.

I'd probably pick up a new on at the HW store on my way over and just replace it. It's not hard to do, just pay close attention to what color wire is where on the old one, and repeat it for the new one. They aren't that expensive, and it's easier to replace than try to trouble shoot. After that, unfortunately, my suggestion would be to call your favorite HVAC tech to go fix it.

Or if it has a battery, you might first try replacing that.
