First time seeing this. Just doesn't make sense to me. Your thoughts? Usually they use the exterior wall to install Comb. Air. vents..... anyways
New construction, nat. gas furnace in garage, installed Comb. Air vent in ceiling of garage to attic with a floor register plate. - Is this a breach in firewall protection? - Should the damper part of the register be removed? Peter Doane Realty Check Inspection Service NACHI ID# 05120681

Its a breach of the firewall unless they install 26 ga. metal duct to exterior and yes remove the damper part of the register (or just replace with grill style).
