Default Too Hot?

Central floor register located 1st floor directly above a Trane gas furnace providing heat for most of the town home including the 2nd floor. The high temperature is a concern especially considering the register is located near the center of a small dining room. What are the average temperature limits? I should clarify, second floor is "heated" by draft through two very small floor vents.

Are you measuring "reflected" radiating heat from the furnace, or the actual temp of the duct?

If your looking right down into the furnace, you are likely seeing radiation (not the actual temp of the duct).

David,

Good point, I shot at about a 30 degree angle. How would you record the actual temp? It was uncomfortably warm near the register.

Put something with a known emissivity on the register and shoot.
