Default Trane XE 1000 AC condenser

Data plate on the unit was missing. A 40 amp breaker was protecting unit, according to panel ledger. Most units max 30 or 35 amps, no? Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance.

without the data plate, it would probably be imposible to know the max fuse requirement (and the age/size of the unit).
most AC units I see require anywhere from 20-40 amp protection.
when I run into a missing data plate, I note it in the report.

What about the air handler. It it probably going to be the same size. If it is a 4 or 5 ton unit many of them will have up to a 60 amp breaker especially with an older 10 SEER unit.
