Trane xe80 age please

I’m looking for the age of a Trane xe80 furnace.

Serial #: N363MPN2G

Tried the online aging chart, but there was no reference to an “N” as the starting digit. Thanks.

Are you sure that is not the model # ?

Prior to 2002 TRANE used a single letter for its mfg date.

**S=2001 R=2000 P=1999 N=1998 M=97 L=96 K=95 J=94 **
H=93 G=92 F=91 E=90 D=89 C=88 B=87 Z=86 Y=85 X=84 W=83

N = 1998

The rest of the numbers refer to the location of the manufacturing plant, the plant foreman’s age, his children’s birthdays, and things like that.

Jae, thanks…where did you find that? The site I looked at did not have an “N” designation at all. In fact, it jumped from 1988 to 1999.

I made it up. I don’t believe what other people tell me–I only believe to be “actual factual” that which I make up myself.

Acually, I don’t know where I got that–many long years ago.

Or maybe last week…it’s all so fuzzy since the accident.

**TRANE **Uses alpha codes in their serial numbers to determine year of manufacture. They started this in 1987 with the letter B and skipped a couple of letters during the years… The first letter of the serial number gives the year of manufacture as follows:

O, A=80(seventh digit) U=82(seventh digit) X=84, S=86, C=88, E=90, G=92, J=94, L=96, N=1998, R=2000

T=81(seventh digit) W=83, Y=85, B=87, D=89, F=91, H=93, K=95, M=97, P=1999, Z=2001

In 2002 they started their serial numbers with the year it was built. In 2002 the first character of the serial number is 2, in 2003, 3 and so on.
