Default Venting for gas water heater

So is duct tape a approved sealant for the vent pipe on a gas water heater? The seller told me that he never noticed it. I told him that is because it melted on the pipe.

Nope Class B pipe is required one inch clearance to combustibles I think the tape is closer than one inch and is combustible. Should have the aluminum tape. called foil backed

I don't know, but after 9/11 and the anthrax scares, King George II recommended that we all buy boxes and boxes of duct tape. Did he ever say what we should do with them, because being a registered Republican, I bought a couple of thousand boxes of duct tape. Fortunately, I've been able to use them all--I needed a new roof on one of my properties, so I just got up there and taped everything together. Hasn't leaked and no one's complained. In fact, it's the new look of the neighborhood.
