Hey Dave A, that pic you posted, I assume that is a pressure reducing valve there on the right... Is one allowed to install those upside down?

I know of no reason why...
It is a spring operated device that has no reference to position. So long as you can access the adjustment screw (not against a wall or appliance), location should not be an issue.
