Default Here is what small capenter ant infestation looks like

I happened to arrive at a log home at the same time as the Orkin man. If you meet these guys on a job, pick their brains, They're usually happy to talk. They often work alone and they are a fund of information.
Colorado has big carpenter ants and little ones. These are the holes and frass of little ones.

Do you report this in you HI report? Or are you a WDO inspector?

My point is if you are not certified in WDO than I would treat it like mold.. I see something , but I do not know what it is. LOL

Anyways thanks for the info.

Point taken Todd.

"Hole noted in log. Very round and even hole, admirable as holes go. Suspected deep hole possibly leading to chambers, but determining hole depth and potential for chamberability lies beyond the scope of the General Home inspection".

I'll call out that I see something and recommend a certified WDO, but I wouldn't not mention it at all. -Kent

Strangley enough I do not report it in my HI report, but I do report it in my WDIIR report, and if I am only doing a HI and thats what my client is paying for I only mention it in the talk thru and it never gets to my HI report. Strange land to walk , but it is doable.

Todd if you think that's picky, check out what the Orkin guy called a "bat turd". You know, he's probably right. And I gotta admit, I'm proud of this detailed "bat turd" photo.

Hi to all,

Bat turd is relatively easy to distinguish from other rodents due to its size and shape. Also it tastes funny

Regards

Gerry
