Moldy barracks video sparks outrage and remediation planThursday, May 01, 2008

MENOMONIE, WI — A soldier's father's YouTube video of widespread mold and other "embarrassing and disgusting" conditions in barracks at Fort Bragg, NC, has sparked outrage on the Internet, major media coverage, and a commitment by the Army to fix the problems, according to
The Dunn County News.
Ed Frawley, father of Sgt. Jeff Frawley of the 82nd Airborne, took the video when he went to Fort Bragg earlier this month to welcome his son home from a 15-month deployment in Afghanistan, the story stated.
The barracks had much mold, open drains leaking sewer gas, broken and rusted restroom fixtures, and peeling lead-based paint, which Frawley caught on his 10-minute video, the story noted.
On Monday, Frawley received a phone call from the Army's vice chief of staff, who agreed that the deplorable barracks required immediate remediation, the story added.
