Default pool question

Older pool. There are three steps, not counting the one to the coping. The distance from the bottom step to the coping is 47 inches. Each riser is approximately 10 inches.

Do pool steps need to conform with regular step riser heights?

Shouldnt their be a handrail installed at these steps?
Your thoughts and input are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jay.

However it only answered half the question (which probably means it answered the whole question). Step risers can be a max of 12 inches. What are your thoughts on a handrail. It is required on four or more on regular steps, but not here.

Bill:

I always recommend handrails. A residential pool does not require handrails. Stupid as it seems. I write them up all of the time. Commerical pools require handrails.
