Dr. Dan Soumi provided a statement to the Ethics Committe that informed that it is legal for a home inspector to subcontract SPIs when and if it is determined that WDO conditions must be reported.
Hence, it is the opinion of the committee that it is not mandatory for Washington home inspectors to be licensed as SPIs in order to conduct a home inspection. Each home inspector in Washington is encouraged to review, know and comply with the laws of their state and to seek guidance from a competent legal authority before making any decisions relating to issues governing them that they are uncertain of.
