aluminium drain pipe

Hello

I have not seen aluminium drain pipe before. This system has cast, aluminium and copper. Any comments are appreciated.

Never seen aluminum in residential but quite common in industrial/commercial

Its a subtle hint all the Cast Iron is shot, unless some has been replaced already with ABS.

You sure that’s not galvanized?

Try a magnet will stick to galvanised but not aluminum .

Agree…

What will drano ® or anything with sodium hydroxide do to an aluminum pipe?

Looks more like stainless steel, which would be acceptable.

Aluminum is not an approved drain material.

Aluminum drain pipe was started about 15 years ago to compete with NH cast iron, same OD but lighter. Found to be too expensive.

I think it would look like this Joe.
