Does anyone have any info on Bock water heaters? I can't find the date of manufacture of an oil-fired Bock 32E (Ser# 97091694T). I'm guessing Sept. of 1997 but I don't like to guess. Thanks.

If you have to guess, tell your Clients that you are making an "educated guess." An educated guess is based on your experience, your knowledge, etc. My standard phrasing when I don't know this type of material is, "An educated guess in looking at the serial number would be September 1997. However, I could be wrong." It let's the Client know that I do have the knowledge to make such a guess but that I am human and could be wrong about this specific appliance or manufacturer.
In any event, I believe your "guess" is correct, September 1997.
