Default Drain pipe/Cold air return

Is it acceptable to have a drain pipe cut through a HVAC return vent?

I apprenticed as a plumber for a while and I know that current codes aren't allowing the venting to pass through cold air returns due to the potential that it can carry fire across levels of the home.

Floor space returns are not suppose to have gas piping or waste cleanouts. Also wires can run thru the floor space/bay, but are not suppose to run along the space/bay inside the return.

Looks like the original post was never answered, and it is a good question ...
