Default Scary water heater

What would you say about this TPR valve set-up. By the way, the heater is 17 years old and the water temp wass 155 deg. F.!

Water heater is past expected serviceable lifespan. Recommend replacing, and correcting TPR discharge with Metal piping. Recommended ideal water temperature is 125 deg F.

Yes the water is too hot for safety.

Yes the water heater is old and likely beyond its expected service life.

The TPR discharge piping is of acceptable material. CPVC

Not an issue (unless required by local AHJ), but the TPR discharging uphill is.
