Does a basement sewage/grinder pump have to be vented?

Should be vented with a minimum 1-1/4-inch diameter vent pipe.
The cover for the pump should be tightly sealed (gas-tight) |

All the ones I have seen have a opening in the lid for the vent. I've seen them vented out the side of the house and not always to the roof.

That's why you can't put the vent near a window, etc.
