Default TPR against drywall

Is there potential for the TPR valve to not operate correctly with the stem being tight against the drywall like this? Or will the spring mechanism still function correctly? Thanks

I guess testing it to see if it works or will work on its on is out of the question Mark.

Nice pick up.

It won't work. The TPR valve stem has to be able to move outwards.

That would be correct. It will not work.

Is it in a garage? Because the plumber just broke the firewall if it is by putting a hole in the drywall. He must be from here!!!

Nah, the tank with the hole was inside. Better a 2" hole in wall in any case.
