Default What is this wire??

Hi all,

Anyone have any ideas what this wire could be that was attached to the gas meter? I have no clue on this one. Any opinions?

Regards,

If the white wire goes into the ground it is probably used to trace the polyethylene gas line.
I do not know what the darker one would be for.

What Brian said about the white wire!

The gas company uses the wire to locate a palstic service pipe so people don't dig it up

They call it a tracer

I have seen tracer wires that were Green, Yellow, White and some other colors.

Is that Black wire twisted to the White wire?

If it is, where does it go? Without knowing I could only guess that it could be connected to a Cable TV splitter or something like that. You never know what the Cable Guy will do. (Or the Telephone service box)

The Tracer wire should not be connected to anything though.
