Default Bearing

Hi Folks,
Yesterday's inspection, the floor joists did bear 2 1/4" on this steel beam, I have never seen this appliction. Would you report the joists be tied together above the beam?

The floor sheathing ties the tops of the joists together and satisfies that need, acting as a diaphragm, so there is no need for any additional ties.

Marcel,

Is the "double-bird mouth" cut ok? We Arizona boys don't see a lot of this, but it definitely looks a little suspect. Nothing like we used to frame. I also noticed the drilling through the middle third of the joist for the conductor.

Just seems to me that because of 2 bird mouth cuts, that each of them become weaker. I may be way over-analyzing, but I am thinking out loud here. Good link by the way.
