They do still use water. I have a water bed that uses tubes filled with water

Well the waterbed was banned from the upstairs and the repair was made to carry the load of the cripple beam.







5/16" plate on both sides bolted with 1/2" through bolts did the trick.
Jacked up 1/2" above level and once bolted, dropped the load and stayed level.

Hmmm ... how do ya ban a waterbed?

No, they actually got rid of the water bed once they saw the beam crack. I strongly advised them to not get another one too! Even with the repair. You should have seen the floor below it. That was another nightmare. Amazing it stood the test of time, 25 years. New shoring post golore to make it have way decent.
Built a new kitchen in this establishment and had to jack the floor 1-1/2"'s and cut the studs on the first floor walls so not to damage the gambrel roof.
