Default Fire Wall code 1996 SBC (Duplex) Help

Can anyone tell me what the code was for a FIRE WALL on a Duplex apartment built in 1996 using the Standard Building Code for (1994)

Would the local building office (that issues permits) have the older code books you could use?

Maybe the local inspector or fire marshall could tell you.

Typical duplex separation is done with a 1 hour fire-rated assembly.

But it can vary depending upon if the duplex is side-by-side or over-under.

Previous poster is correct and the only way you can know for sure what was required is by contacting the code authority to determine what codes were in effect when the building was constructed.
