Screw jack support?

Does anybody know if screw jack supports are allowed as permanent support structures. I would prefer to see the lally columns, but if screw jacks are allowed, so be it.

substandard, nonconforming should be replaced with cement filled steel column.

If screw jacks are simply "temporary support structures", and they are installed in basically every new home in my home state of Iowa. Then how does the building code inspector allow an occupancy permit rather than a temporary occupancy permit? The only problem I've ever seen a city inspector have with them is they must be anchored down.

Agreed; and anchored top and bottom, and also rated for the intended load requirements of the structure it is supporting.
