Default Steel posts supports

Did an inspection yesterday. Full slab concrete crawlspace floor. Nice. The bottom plates at the bottom of the posts are sitting on one foot long sections of 6"x6" wood posts that sit on the concrete floor. I say replace with concrete block. Opinions needed. Thanks, Stan

I don't know about your area, but around here steel columns don't sit on the concrete floor at all. They go through the floor and sit on footings.

Same here. I couldn't determine if there were footings installed below the finished concrete floor. I do know that wood blocks can wick water and deteriorate over time. Creating a sag in the main support beam. Stan

Steel posts are very inexpensive.
