Default upside down...?

Have you run into this before and what might be the thought on installing these posts in this fashion?

This is a 1988 home with full basement. 4 of these posts installed this way.

The problem isn't that they appear upside down but that those are temporary telescoping posts not meant for permanent installation.

That's typically the way I see them. The other end has tabs for gripping the I beam.
