Inspection Education & Training This is a general forum for inspectors to discuss their educational experience, and to ask questions of InterNACHI's Education Committee. This forum is dedicated to the memory of InterNACHI member and educator Gerry Beaumont. Gerry was an avid proponent of education for inspectors and will be sorely missed.

I think it is interesting all of the guys that have been put out of NACHI over the years. They are all of the older expierienced HI's....
Fascinating. Why do they have to drone on so? Is it in their creedo?

I have yet to make any disparaging about the latest ASHI inspect a house meeting here in AZ. I was not there, but I could comment.

Michael why would you comment on a meeting you left early? Why would Dan comment on a meeting he did not attend.

The meeting was good. The next meeting will be better.

Brian... I responded to a question from Todd. If it appeared that my reply was disparaging it wasn't meant to be. Quite frankly I think everyone in AZ takes the rivalry between ashi and nachi to seriously,[reminds me of asu and u of a fans ] to me it's not what what any org has to say that matters it's the state that regulates us and sets our min. requirements.

I'm not sure what you could say that was negative about last weeks ashi seminar but what ever.
Before bashing AZ ASHI I suggest attending a seminar.
Tell you what I'll do.... I won a certificate last week for 1/2 of of any upcoming one day ashi seminar, let me know if your interested and I'll give it to you , and pay the other 1/2, when you register tell Dina to contact me to verify.

Then after attending if you don't see the value of attending a seminar with 50 plus inspectors with experience from 1 -20 plus years you have something of value to bash AZ ASHI, go for it.

Unless you stand in a corner and not talk to the experienced guys, [you'll find 90 plus % of them are more than willing to share information with new inspectors] I'm willing to bet that you'll agree no matter what the content of the seminar, talking to experienced local inspectors during and after is worth far more than the content of the seminar.

How many years does one have to be in business to be considered an "older experienced HI"? My company is 4½ years old. Should I be worried yet about being put out to pasture?

Once more I need to say I belong to both organizations and like both organizations for odifferent reasons.[/quote]

Michael brings up a good point and gave me a new idea
I'm proposing that the month of June is adopt a nachi member, that way I figure if an ashi member adopts a nachi member that member not only has the info to market new customers and ["uh realtors I guess if that's your bag] they also have the advantage of CE knowledge from older inspectors that will go a lot farther when providing an inspection, thus allowing all to provide our customers professional and knowledgeable report,
[from what I've seen the days of disclaming nearly every thing are going away, customers want an answer, not an indirect "I don't know so I'll refer it to someone else"]] which in my experience providing a though and informative report will get you far more referrals from satisfied customers than any other kind of marketing

Todd You are telling everyone to look at my old Threads? Why they are not all that interesting? What did I do to you? I Like you. Are you wanting me to waist time deffending my credentials against a newbie like Dale? I didnt want to bore people. Did you want me to post a photo of me on a roof? (he said I don't do roofs) He said I didn't know the differense betwean a wire or a pipe Oh come on now everyone that knows me knows I was a wireman for many years with ASM. `Pipes' I can't tell the difference That is even funnier I am a past member of the American Vacuum Society (I used to even do orbital welding on S.S. double containment lines for toxic Gas's (Sih4, PH3, etc....)
on top of that I have a BS in Computer Science, I am a certified Robotics Expert ( Seiko Instruments, ACUFAB certified, GE FANUC) Heck I am Even a Arizona State Licensed Pharmacy Technician (10120)
It's like Oscar Wilde said It ain't bragging if you can do it.
