Inspection Education & Training This is a general forum for inspectors to discuss their educational experience, and to ask questions of InterNACHI's Education Committee. This forum is dedicated to the memory of InterNACHI member and educator Gerry Beaumont. Gerry was an avid proponent of education for inspectors and will be sorely missed.

Default Free Webinar, Tue, Jan 22, 2013 9:00 PM EST. How to Inspect for Air Leakage in a Home

Air leakage equals energy leakage. When a house leaks air, it is losing energy. And losing energy is like throwing money away. Adding insulation and sealing air leaks can improve a home’s energy efficiency and durability, as well as increase comfort.

However, every change that is made to the building’s envelope (its walls, floors and ceilings) and components will affect how well the home works to keep out the elements and keep the occupants safe and comfortable.

A trained inspector understands how the home’s systems work together to keep a house operating as it should.

In this webinar, we’ll go over what an inspector needs to know about air leakage when inspecting a home, including:

  • 19 areas of the home most likely to have air leakage;
  • the potential durability and health concerns related to air leakage; and
  • prioritized energy-saving recommendations with safety in mind.

Yeah it's easy to find air drafts today, with the assistance of 50 mph wind gust.

We'll be learning about dirty fiberglass insulation, such as in this picture -
