And I honestly don't know what the fuss is all about, see this type of work on a daily basis. Everybody has to be to the letter of the Bible here or what. Means and the methods are left to the installer, how the Code is interpetated belongs to the Code Council not on the Nachi TV or its viewers. Sorry, had to vent. I think some thought it was a show about codes, represents what an inspector should do, or a course. It is none of those. It is an interview with a master electrician who does things and explains things his way.

All your NACHI TV episodes should represent and be taught as a course on a level of a home inspector not a master electrician with years of experiece in that particular field. Don't get me wrong excellent video however what you said above is only going to confuse people. I hear ya, but there is only so many shows we can shoot about home inspections.
We like to mix it up a bit and hear from members of sister trades (master electricians or master plumbers or whoever) and what they say about systems in a home, much of which will of course be far outside a home inspector's Standards of Practice. I find licensed professionals in these other trades to be far less disciplined than home inspectors and more varied in their approach to things than home inspectors... but of course I'm biased. I get a lot out of watching them nontheless. Joe,
Please explain: Quote:

And just who or what would make this determination? Let me guess.... The NEC is a VOLUNTARY code, adopted or not adopted by individual states. Please explain where in the law, or anywhere else, that this definition applies to what we do. Many electricians have attempted to push this very agenda, mostly for monetary purposes. But, after watching the electrician in the video, I'd have to say that if I was his employer, I'd be a little more than uncomfortable with the manner in which his hands were wandering around inside the panel. If safety is the point of your reference, and the NEC qualifies this individual to perform an electrical inspection, then in my opinion, just throw the NEC out the window with regard to who is qualified and who is not. I am not slamming the electrician in the video, by the way... I am merely pointing out how ridiculous such a "requirement" would actually be. Meaningless and protectionist, IMO. |

Not from you, Joe. You never could specify what to wear.

The electrician in the video has been licensed for years.

Hello Nick,
Thanks for the Electrical Wall video. I was wondering if it would be possible to break that video file into possibly four segments so more inspectors would be able to watch it. The video is very detailed and would be great to watch but is too long to view all at once. Thank you, Jim Metcalf |
