Dang. I need this. My battery is dead on my laptop and I don't have money to buy another one right now. $4000 Dell XPS Mega Laptop and I can't even use it.

The battery can be useless Wendy, if you use the AC adapter, it will work fine. If you don't have a AC adapter, Dell sells them for 35 bucks I think.

I have yet to find any other product that is not Dell which will work in a Dell.

I have a couple Dell's Wendy, see if the green light is on @ the AC adapter, the adapters are junk, but only Dell sells them, I went through this nonsense last week.

If I unplug the laptop, hell the battery will only last about an hour anyway, pretty much useless. I have to use the adapter in my truck if I need to do something important, if there is no power in the building I'm at.

Yep, the adapter is working. The computer says that the battery needs to be replaced. That comes up on the screen. Darn thing.

My battery only lasted an hour as well. The smaller ones are supposed to last longer, but the XPS is a gaming/media powerhouse and isn't particularly energy efficient.

Is the battery on their recall list?

I think a new one is about $160.00....but I don't understand why the system won't work with the adapter plugged in unless their is a short in the battery itself.
