Inspection Education & Training This is a general forum for inspectors to discuss their educational experience, and to ask questions of InterNACHI's Education Committee. This forum is dedicated to the memory of InterNACHI member and educator Gerry Beaumont. Gerry was an avid proponent of education for inspectors and will be sorely missed.

Default Vancouver/Portland Home Inspection Training

The Bellingham Technical College traveling residential home inspection training program is on the road again. Instructors will be at Clark College, in Vancouver, WA from October 2-27, 2006. This program is part of the Washington State community college curriculum and is one of the most intense home inspection training programs in the country. All students, who complete the 160 hour NACHI approved program, will receive a certificate of completion from Bellingham Technical College. The class meets 8 hours per day, over four weeks. The rigorous curriculum includes instructional units in structure, exteriors, roofing, electrical, plumbing, chimneys, insulation/ventilation, furnaces, wood destroying organisms, etc. Emphasis is put on class participation, discussion, interaction and professional report writing. All students will complete four actual field inspections while supervised by a certified professional inspector. Additionally, students receive a set of the industry leading Dearborn Home Inspection textbooks and the structural pest inspection training books from Washington State University. Upon completion, students should be prepared to take any certification test required by a state, a professional home inspection association or society, the National Home Inspector Exam, and the Washington State Structural Pest Inspector’s Exam. INFORMATION FOR OREGON RESIDENTS ONLY:

The Oregon Construction Contractor’s Board has determined that this home inspection class offered through Bellingham Technical College, an accredited state college, will satisfy all ten (10) education eligibility points required for home inspector certification by the State of Oregon. Oregon inspectors may, also, count every hour spent in class -- hour for hour -- toward the state’s continuing education unit requirements. The BTC curriculum will prepare the student to pass the Oregon State Exam, the Washington State Structural Pest Inspector Exam and any test required by the leading home inspection societies or associations and the National Home Inspector Exam. Those students, wishing to be certified in Oregon, will ALSO be required to independently gain an additional ten (10) experience or “ride-along” points with a certified Oregon inspector.
