OK...Poll is closed so here is your G. Beaumont answer..

(A) General Provisions.
In every kitchen, family room,
dining room, living room, parlor, library, den, sunroom,
bedroom, recreation room, or similar room or area of
dwelling units, receptacle outlets shall be installed in accordance
with the general provisions speci
fied in 210.52(A)(1)
through (A)(3).

(1) Spacing.
Receptacles shall be installed so that no point
measured horizontally along the
floor line in any wall space
is more than 1.8 m (6 ft) from a receptacle outlet.

And since we know cords are 6' long as a standard, placing something in the center of a 12' span will leave you 6' to the receptacle of your choice. Also we all know the famous verbage to commit to memory is 6 and 12 which means 6' from any opening more or less and then every 12' along the wall...I wont get to detailed as I think you get the point.

This message has be bought to you by the makers of VOLVO....
