This question relates to home inspection Standards of Practice concerning the inspection of "Cooling Systems", and what you are legally required to do. They are very common state licensing questions. You may want to actually read the various SOP's so that you can understand the question.

The question was not from Carson Dunlop, but I am sure they also have very similar questions as it is very important for an inspector to understand what they are required, and not required, to do as part of a home inspection ... which directly relates to the SOP.
If someone was not a home inspector or learning to become a home inspector, I could see them not understanding how the question relates to the SOP. Robert,
I want to thank you also for continuing with your efforts to educate the members and visitors to the Message Board. It's a shame that we have a "know it all" CMI from Canada that wants to challenge your integrity. Sad but true. Lets try and keep the QOD posts related to the questions. I am trying really hard not to be overly sarcastic ...

Robert whether you know it or not you just shot yourself in the foot.
As for you Linus. I don't know it all that is why I am on the MB. If I new it all I would not care. If someone was not a home inspector or learning to become a home inspector, I could see them not understanding how the question relates to the SOP. In the original post you say nothing about the SOP. You should have said under the NACHI standards of practice. What does a inspector have to inspect for cooling. This was a problem with the questions on Carson Dunlop. This was a direct attack which I will not agree with from QOD. Relax a little, your gonna have a heart attack over some message board posts ... I was just razzing you to make a point because of your comments on the question (if you haven't noticed, I tend to do that sometimes). And it was related to the QOD ...

As previously indicated, I am posting old exam questions for the most part without changing them, even if they are regional specific (e.g. dependent on the applicable SOP) or poorly worded for a reason. Because thats how many local licensing exam questions are written, and a big concern for many is the licensing exam they typically must take to become a home inspector.
It's also for educational reasons to encourage people to look up answers if they are not sure (especially if it looks like there might be more than one correct answer) ... or even guess an answer and then see which one is correct. As I indicated in my answer to the QOD this was a sticky question because it is regional/SOP specific, but I posted it as originally worded anyway as a twist ... Chris nailed it right off the bat, but maybe in the future you guys could wait till the weekend to discuss the answers ...
