Why would you opt out ? Makes no sense. Nothing has changed with the auction. The winning bidder gets HIP. The only thing added was that the next person in line has the OPTION of purchasing a version of our software at the same price. There is NO OBLIGATION to purchase anything at all. It is up to the inspector.
My mistake was that Nick and I should have waited until AFTER the auction was done to do the offering but when I posted it there was no set time for it to end set until after I had already posted it.

My apologizes to Dominic if he feels I stepped over my boundaries and into his parade. I know Dominic enough to know he is a good guy and I believe he knows me enough to know that I am a good guy also and had no malice meant in this thread. We are both trying to do the same thing....help home inspectors with their business and to get off paper and deliver a quality product to help consumers also...I look at my home inspection check-sheet paper report I got when I purchased my home 15 years ago and I shake my head and say to myself..."I payed how much for this inspection ? ".

You must have had some shady looking inspection report back then.

I designed my own comprehensive 17 page checklist report (6 years ago) that I'm still utilizing this checklist report today. I have over 3,000 very satisfied clients who I have handed my checklist report to and not one of them has called me back asking about noted issues due to my penmanship.

It's not the checklist report nor is it the report format that is the issue here, it's the lack of information that an inspector fails to give to their client. If all visible issues are noted in the report and the report is comprehensible, and your client is well informed of their prospective home, then the type of report is not the issue at all.

My checklist report is top of the line and covers every last component in any size home. I complete the report on-site, hand my client 2 pages and I keep one for my records. I now go home and spend time with my wife and kids. Not sitting behind a computer uploading images and finalizing inspection reports that should have been finalized on-site.

Which to me would be an easier way to do it anyways...just purchase it. Why hassle with 10 other inspectors that were planning on buying anyways and you may even end up paying more then the retail price....auctions work better when there is really an unknown value to what you are auctioning on.
