I totally understand, and like I said you'll be happy either way yo ugo. Let me know if you need anything else, I do websites from time to time. Two examples are http://www.TotalHomeInspectionServices.biz and http://www.AccurateInspections.biz . I'm actually going to have a partner start working on them sometime soon as I'm too busy working on the program and the site. I've slept 3-4 hours a night for the past 4 or 5 days and need some rest!

Okay guys....I'll have to chime in since Dominic has gotten his share of free time on this message board. Make sure to look at Knights Software Solutions also besides just Home Gauge and Home Inspector Pro. Our software has been around over 10 years...(as long as 3D just about) and we have thousands of clients across the US and Canada. The biggest difference between our software and almost everyone elses is that we wrote the software to be used AS you are doing the inspection instead of AFTER the inspection. Our emphasis has always been in eliminating having to reenter your inspection data whether it is back at home in your office or running back and forth to the kitchen on the counter. There is a significant difference in interface and functionality in software designed to be "INSPECTION" software instead of "REPORTING" software. "REPORTING" software is easy to recognize because when you are using it you can actually see the report being created. With "INSPECTION" software the complete interface is designed to make it as fast and efficient as possible to collect the data as you are doing the inspection....it then creates the report for you at the end of the inspection based on inspection data collected....you do not have to reenter your data in the evening or in the kitchen.
And the answer is YES....we also have a version of our software that has a price of $349.

Mario,

Ease up a bit on Jeff. He's a decent guy and I have met him personally several times. He is a previous member I believe.

According to your price list that price is only for 50 inspections. that would make it $2700.00 a year. going that rout

Guys...we have been associated with NACHI (InterNACHI) since its inception (previously as Borealis...now as Knights Software). We were a Silver member of the NACHI Education program, we offer 10% to members and have attended many NACHI shows. I have posted numerous times on this message board helping inspectors decide on hardware etc. I do not believe that makes us a SPAMMER. No...we have not had an employee serve as NACHI Vice President yet...like Russel or Keith. I deeply respect both of them and I think they did a wonderful job at that post.

I never said Dominic was not helpful and I was really just ribbing Dominic...sorry if everyone is taking it the wrong way...but you can't deny that he has promoted his software along the way.

I respect almost all of the software vendors in this market and we have known each other for many, many years and enjoy each others company at the inspection shows we attend during the year all across the country. Each software has its fans and they will openly promote the software to other inspectors...we know that the best sales force we have are our current clients.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone is not just looking at 2 of the software solutions out of the dozen or so that are out there. There are some significant differences in some of the software and I was trying to help relay that information. Sorry if some people think that is SPAM or that I am being pushy. I think Russel and Dominic have great software and you would never go wrong purchasing either package if you make sure it fits your needs.

FYI: The $349 for the limited version of our software can be applied to the full license of our software when the inspector decides that. You can continue to buy 50 at a time for $299 each ($6 each - about the same as if you were using ReportHost I believe) but no one does that since it really doesn't make since if you are a full time inspector. This price was offered for new inspectors coming out of a school that really weren't sure yet about being an inspector and did not want to commit to a full license...it is an alternative to buying a box of forms instead (which the schools always readily try to sell you). It also may make sense for inspectors that have already been burned once by another software package and are gunshy at this point or inspectors that are part-time and only do a few inspections a month.

Jeff

Jeff ..I am sure you are a good guy but we like trade off.
We are spoiled and feel that to push something for sale we ask for payment in the form of the venders being helpful.
Dom has earned respect very fast through his sharing of knowledge with the members on this board.
Give and take.
I think you had a comment during the Inspect master fiasco , so you know we are wary of any negativity among venders.
(do as we say ,not as we do) lol.
Options are good though as the more choice out there the better.
Perhaps you could add a free copy to the Football pool.Hmmmmm.

Kevin,

I have been a HG user for years. HG offers a month by month offer. Maybe you should try that first. And then buy the program if you love it like I do.

Jeff

I agree with my friend Robert.
Your last post should have been your first. I like the fact that you introduced yourself. I also agree with your statement about having choices.
I wish you luck with your software!!

As stated above, there are many good software products and vendors out there.
One could get the same response regarding vehicle manufactureres!
I made my choice on bang for the buck, versatility, and overwhelming customer support. HG had been in the lead until HIP launched.
HIP is great as it is, and Dominic is literally making improvements every week. He is amazingly responsive to suggestions form HIs, and incorporates changes and upgrades on an ongoing basis.
It took 5 years for me to change to another system, and HIP has my vote.
As far as the other software leaders go, they are all very respectable but, as with my vehicles, I see no reason to pay more than necessary to get a quality product.

I would like to encourage shoppers to look at all the software possible and a good test method is to take an old inspection and some pics and re-create the report in the demos. Jeff Knight has good software and I must say it is very different than most of the other software out there. He is correct in saying that it is reporting software as opposed to inspection software. At first i didnt understand the difference until I seen him use it at the Texas show.

If you are not going with HomeGauge then you must take a look at www.knightssoftware.com

HomeGauge AnDroid* and the new HG Version 5
is released!

HomeGauge in the past has always been neutral with all orgs...but there's no denying it, INACHI clearly provides the best value to its inspectors and is dominating ASHI, NAHI and the others in all areas when it comes to giving value to its customers.
