OK that does look slower to me.
You select a topic then need to hunt down through 300 pictures to select?

That is what I heard and now just saw, so how the heck do you jump around finding them all since the 20th picture slotted and the 50th would still entail searching through every single one?

I may need to do a video and somehow get a copy for comparison.

There are times when I have a roof shot at the beginning and again in the middle for instance.

Actually you are doing it backwards. If you want to save time go in the order pictures (you already know where your template inspection items are). But really it's what your acustom to.. HIP looks painfully slow to me but I'm sure that's because you have to get the navigation down. Same with HG I'm sure.

Different ways to do it.
Will go to criminal mode and get a copy to screen video during slow down.
Then we can do a taste test.

Exactly !! Add up the costs of the required monthly or yearly services and you will see what you are really paying. The monthly subscription costs are paying for the software development... period. There is nothing wrong in doing it this way...it is just that inspectors need to stop comparing just the upgrade costs.

When you promote yourself initially as software that is lower then everyone else and free upgrades forever there is a piper you will pay later on when you figure out that you can't do it that way and keep making your product better. Just sayin.

Umm, how exactly does that work Jeff. Most of our website competitors charge a $250 startup fee (we charge none, and give 3 months free) for website hosting and the same price or more per month! I've seen inspection hosting at $70 a month. So they're definitely not paying more as they're actually getting a service they would be getting elsewhere and most often for less money. Simple business math!

Jeff how much do you charge for your Hosting service?

Did you mean the software because I was wondering how often you have new versions out as I do not see any mention of it on your user forum.
Actually where is the user forum as I can't seem to find it? nor can I find any threads here from people who use it.....hmmm.

We decided ages ago to just stick to the software side. Yes...we probably could use a user forum but all our users know exactly how to get a hold of us and a lot of our clients (franchises) have their own user forums already.

Dom has a very reasonable fee structure for website hosting.

A very good deal in fact with great customizable templates.

You won't be disappointed with his software or web hosting.

IMHO of course.

Most other vertical market software solutions (hotel reservations, property management, HVAC software, emergency response systems, etc.), are of the norm of a yearly service contract. It may vary from hundreds of dollars to thousands each year. This usually includes support and upgrades... and a lot of those markets are larger then the home inspection market. If there is no continual cash flow into the software products they will seize to be sustainable after the market is saturated. There is not that much over turn in the home inspection market. If we don't charge for upgrades or annual subscriptions then the company cannot support their customer base. Our software is outrageously cheaper compared to the prices in those comparable markets also. Just sayin.

We are on v6 which was an upgrade almost 2 years ago. We have been in business 14 years which averages an upgrade every other year. Each upgrade has had hundreds of new features...with many of them requested by our clients or market trends like the ability to automatically include photos in our summary report for instance or filtering of comments based on things you have checked already during your inspection ...adding intelligence almost to the software. Do we charge for our upgrades ? Yes...for any MAJOR upgrade....minor upgrade in between no. We also always have a grace period of 6 mos. from previous version buyers.
