You're probably just not transferring the data files into the current data location. Use your report writer Preferences menu to find out your data location, and transfer your files there. If you need more help, detailed steps/info is provided about working with backups in our installation forum on our website, or you can always contact tech support for help.

Regular tech support is always free for 3D Inspection System software. You don't need a subscription to get support (unlike some other inspection software vendors). Subscribers just get program updates automatically sent to them when released, and at a lower price than a regular upgrade from older versions would normally cost. Wheras support is available to subscribers and non-subscribers alike.

Cool Re: New Thread for 3D Users

For those of you attending the November 9-12, 2007 AII (American Institute of Inspectors) Fall Conference at Portland, OR (see http://www.inspection.org/Conferences/Annual.html ), be sure not to missing the exclusive training led by 3D Inspection System co-owner and senior programmer Charles Cubbage. He has prepared a special presentation for November 9, 1:30-4:30 pm to demonstrate exciting new features in the upcoming version 11 of 3D Inspection System software. Also take advantage of this opportunity to provide your feedback directly to the head programmer! Class is free for AII conference registrants; $100 for 3D-only participants.

And by special agreement between NACHI and AII, NACHI members can attend the AII conferences at the AII member price (even if you are not a member of AII).

Hi folks:

It's been a while since I did an inspection on a home with a basement apartment and I can't remember how to add a second kitchen, or how to add more bathrooms.

Can anyone help?

thanks

Douglas,

To create a second kitchen if I remember correctly you first have to create a kitchen, or a sub-form called something like subkitchen in the 'All Available Forms', then insert as a subform under 'Forms in Selected Group' - not really a good explaination - send me an email with your number and I'll give you a call and try and walk you thru it.

It's also really simple to just add new sections right on the fly in 3D. For instance, if your kitchen is a main form, just click the Add toolbar in the report and choose to add a form, and choose your kitchen section. You can assign a new name for the whole form section (i.e. Second Kitchen, etc) and decide where in the report the new section goes. Voila, you instantly have your new section for that report.

To replicate a bathroom section or heading your in within a larger bath form, just click Add and choose to copy a heading to replicate that bath heading and all its subheadings and comment selections. Assign a bathroom name for your new heading and Voila, you continue on your way inspecting.

You can also use the Add toolbar to Add brand new headings and subheadings that never existed before, either just for a particular report, or permanently in the master forms.

I'd really only recommend replicating information in the master forms if you want it permanently already there for future inspections, since it really so easy to just add or replicate on the fly without even leaving the report. For instance, if you know you're always typically going to run into 2 kitchens, or whatever.

The upcoming version 11 Pocket3D will also have the ability to copy headings and subheadings on the fly, right in Pocket3D, as well as add new comments permanently to your forms for the future.

Thanks Donna.

Does your software include www.nachi.org/comsop.htm or is it ASTM/InterNACHI-unfriendly only. Only reason I ask is that Joe Farsetta is going around the country giving courses on commercial inspections, we got our commercial inspection course approved for CE purposes by TREC, we've filed for approval in a dozen other states and expect to be approved in all, and about 65 city governments have been granted permission to use all or part (mostly the accessibility section) of our Commercial Inspection SOP.

Smile Re: New Thread for 3D Users

This is the first I have heard of a commercial standard other than ASTM 2018, to which all commerical forms compatible with 3D software conform to.

As you should know, we have the NACHI standards included in 3D software, just like we include the standards of other national associations. Users can elect to use any they wish or none at all. I am not opposed to including a copy of these Internachi Commerical Standards you have, its just that nobody ever asked and this is the first Ive heard of such a thing.

3D Inspection System software has always been friendly to all associations, whether they are in the home inspection, mold inspection, termite inspection or marine inspection industries, where our 3D product is also widely used. We have found its never good for a business serving an entire sector to favor one association over another or to get involved in the politics.. thats why I no longer accept appointments to boards of associations.

If you would like for your commerical standards to be included as a document in 3D software manufactured for the home inspection marketplace, just provide a document giving us the right to reproduce without fee for some period of time, provide the standards in pdf and we will go from there.

Thanks Carl!

Consider this post your permission to include the only real Commercial Inspection Standards of Practice www.nachi.org/comsop.htm in the industry, into your software. There is only one other document that is falsly titled similarly, put out by ASTM, but if you read it, it is not a standard at all, it is a scope of work permission form.

Anyway, I kind of agree with your association politics policy but think you should make an exception for InterNACHI, the world's largest inspection association just because of our size and dominance relative to the little guys, but you decide.

As for 3D, once you have the Commercial Standards incorporated into your software, send us a couple thousand trial CDs and we'll ship them out with every SOP we mail and hand them out at every Commercial Inspection course we offer. No charge. We just finished a successful one in Ohio this weekend and announced http://mo.nachi.org/centralmissouri/event278.html this morning.

Thanks!

P.S. Come do a www.nachi.tv show with me some time. No charge for that either.
