Is this a new competitor or have they been around for awhile?

Michael,
They have been around at least 5 years. I remember looking briefly at the software before I made my decision on what to purchase. Ultimately, I did not use their services.

Dom,
Thank you again. Currently, I am inputting all of my infrared report information into HIP. You have created an awesome product and I look forward to expanding my business by using it. I will be diligently incorporating HIP as my software for home inspections as I migrate away from InspectVue. Thank you again for all of you support. And may I say.. Everyone on this board who sings your praises' are absolutely correct. You have been most helpful, always had time to take my calls and provide an exceptional product and service.

UPDATE:
I still have not heard from Porter Valley nor has ESP, the parent company, returned my call. That says to me that Porter Valley is GONE and without a word to those of us who paid out good money for the software and $250 a year to keep it working right.
I re-subscribed in November in order to retrieve a completed report.

As the parent company, I would think that ESP (Environmental Service Professionals) would bear responsibility for re-imbursing inspectors.

They are still in business.

This is the type of problem to be expected when an association promotes its vendors to the membership based upon the vendor's willingness to pay a fee to NACHI as opposed to its quality and reliability. But then, who knew?

I hope that the changes made to this recently discovered policy, yesterday, will avoid future rip-offs.

This is not good news... but not totally surprising. I’ve used PV from day one, time I migrate to HIP.

Jim,

I think this particular instance has more to do with PVS/ESP and their business practice rather than anything to do with NACHI.

I've never used PVS, but seems they've been around for a while and have, in the past, provided good service/support. Calling this instance a "rip-off" is a stretch at best.

I stand corrected. It is premature.

So I just got off the phone with ESP. Lorne is not avaiable at this time. The support is being handled. Use the ESP # posted above.

People can be unavailable for a number of ligitimate reasons. Lorne has provided good support in the past, I hope he's OK.

PVS tech support went into limbo, and I must have recieved twenty or so telephone calls by people who still associate me with PVS. (Asking me for tech support is like asking a witch doctor to cure a headache). I'm not privy to the details, but there was a breakdown in the delegation of authority, but things are getting back on-track. Regardless, I'm always willing to answer questions about inspections and report writing.

"there was a breakdown in the delegation of authority" I hate that when it happens.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
