I have had my Acer w500 for a couple of days now. I must say that it is great. Well worth the money. Walmart has it on sell for $498. I take it with me around the house to gather all of the info I need and then dock it with the key board to finish the report. I use the fillable pdf forms for insurance inspections. What a difference it is to complete them on site.

Greg, are you using a stylus with it or the virtual keyboard when walking around?

Hi Dom,

Right now I am just using my finger. I do plan on stopping tomorrow to get a stylus.

I use an HP 500 Slate. Works great. Good batt life and runs all windows programs. Touch screen is perfect. Get a non glare screen protector and its good in the sun. In direct sunlight it has a little bit of a glare but you can still make out the screen easily. Cost $799.00 from HP or Amazon.

Well personally, I use an android tablet to note my stuff on the field. I am not that moved to get a computer tablet either as that kind of defeats the purpose and functions just like a netbook.

I suggest that you do the same as well. You might want to get something similar as there are a lot of tools that would let you take note of the important stuff for easier recall and structuring when you get home.

I bought a Targus stylus yesterday. It works better than I expected. So far I am very happy with the machine. I installed Homegauge, Adobe acrobat and still have plenty of room for more.

I used it yesterday and never had to plug it in. I could even read the screen while I was outside gathering all of the info I needed.

Chrome works much better than IE.

I used to think like that. Now I am much happier just doing everything once. I don't have to think about the job once I leave the driveway.
