Home inspectors do not comment on the presence (or not) of termites in their inspection reports. In fact, the presence or not of wood destroying insects and/or organisms is disclaimed --- unless the inspector is licensed to inspect for them, in which case he recommends treatment or doesn't. Offering your "warranty" is a direct contradiction to either service.

Your product has no practical application or value that is relevant to our standard of practice.

Agreed.

Tying my service to WDO, if I'm not in that field, just doesn't make sense.

Then here is a thought, why don't you just tell your customer to visit www.serviceaccess.com and let them decide if there is any interest in having a termite agreement on their home that is renewable without having to pay for a treatement? Can't think that would be a conflict of anything.

Probably for the same reason that you don't just tell your customer to visit www.missouricertifiedenergy.com .

Perhaps we can arrange a mutual incentive. I receive $20 per month from the real estate broker who has a link on this site. If you are interested, let me know.

I have placed a link on my site that references the NACHI relationship. I also offer the service agreement to real estate brokers to cover all of their listings and offer the buyer a renewal of that coverage. Since some brokers have thousands of listings we are presented to their cloisngs, with or without a home inspection. Our offer to NACHI members for a 90-day Free coverage with registration seemed to be a excellent way to help both the inspector with their liability risk and the buyer to have coverage without having to have a treatment up front. Do you ask your E&O provider to list you on their website?

Since you have a 100.00 deductible and no warranty regarding any structural damage, then basically what you are offering is a treatment for 100.00 if needed within 90 days? Then IF they get that treatment obviously you will be the company they choose to do follow up treatments. I mean they wouldn't switch as that would probably void your work. It is a good plan you came up with for yourself, but as many here have said it is of no benefit, and actually a potential liability for a home inspector.

I do not agree that it is only a good deal for me. First and foremost pest control companies will not provide a service contract unless they have treated the property first. If the home already has a termite contract the buyer should renew the agreement if available. The deductible reduces the number of calls unless there is an infestation and then the $100. is insignificant to a treatment.
We offer our service agreement through real estate brokers, escrow closing offices and mortgage companies for a fee. NACHI members can offer a 90-Day free agreement when the client registers. If you don't offer it others will. Thank you for your comments. Steve
