You would think that except they have not finished production as of yet.....the unit is on the market and sold by the millions....we are only getting the NACHI name put on some...
Besides all inspectors should know what a freakin voltage sensor is by now....if you would like a picture of one without the NACHI logo...no problem...it is attached. Man you guys sure know how to bust a mans balls over a freakin 20 dollar item........but alas the intent was originally for safety.......and considering everyone kept asking me about them I figured heck lets make it easy for members and get the NACHI logo on it to boot........ Besides...as I say in my seminars....I dont care which you buy...as long as you have one and be safe. Paul W. I qualify my statement by saying I've tried others like Greenlee's and other no name brands and I find Fluke to be superior. I do own two Fluke's but I no longer have need of the one for lower voltages. I use to have a fluke that did sound an alarm. Maybe they don't make that model anymore. I'm prone to loosing things. Every one does need one though. It is just my opinion Fluke is better as is often the case here opinions vary as well as your mileage.

But in the end.....look they all do the same thing really...save lives and detect voltage so it's all good.....I was just trying to resource them for the members .....but to all members....but any model you wish but BUY one and learn how to use it... Don't worry Thomas they're pen size in length and dime size in diameter.
Hey Paul, I would hate to think how many tools I've left behind in attics. I think my current tester is #6. I know they all work on basically the same technology but my personal tests were how sensitive they were. When I was a tech I used it for troubleshooting switches and relays and on occasion checking to see if a certain section of wire was powered or not powered. Now I mainly use it to see if K&T or a certain section of romex etc. is active or inactive. I think that Fluke is more sensitive sensing through insulation. I can tell what side of a wire is the hot or neutral through the outer insulation easily. Not all I’ve tried will do that. I just like Fluke in general. I’ve used Fluke meters for almost my entire working life. I have other meter brands but I always wind using my fluke as my primary meter. The problem with some Tickers is they go off on ANYTHING..static, induction and what have you....some are even so sensative you can use them to test microwaves.......but what you need is a tester that will tell you the presence of voltage at any level....BUT will only actually BEEP when it is TRULY AC voltage at dangerous levels......generally 50-1000V is acceptable....
So with that said...the AMPS are what is gonna get ya......detect one before the other detects you....Greenlee, Fluke, ideal....anything.......either way every inspector should own one....regardless of the brand. Now.....replace 6 of them at $ 29.95 and you get $ 179.70.....replace 6 of them at 20.95 and you get $ 125.70...a savings of $ 54.00 dollars...or (2) additional tickers....thehehehhe Paul W. I love them. I've used the "Tic Tracer" by TIFF for years. Red light flashes and beeps. Always remember real estate agents are like children, they are fascinated by toys that make sounds and light. It works great and I carry it in my pocket so its always handy in case an agent wants to grab it and play with it

I find that to be true as well. They love my telescoping ladder and ask where to get one. They love all my gadgets. I was pleasantly surprised to see some agents attending at my last CEU class. They said they wanted to learn more about home inspection. I see that as a good thing.

How do you test it before using?

Ahhh.....what.....Not sure I follow you jeff....
You should test ALL tickers on a KNOWN circuit ( ie: outlet ) before using in crawlspaces and so on.... Paul W. Always good advice Paul, test it on a known energized circuit. If you work with me, during the day, you'll see me scratching the back of my head/neck as a op-check.
Unless I'm all sweaty. |

lol......except if you use a NACHI TICKER thomas...static wont make OURS go off.....all static may make it flicker...but only TRUE...AC Voltage will make it Light UP and BEEP......
