Didn't you just start your business as a HI?

I went two years cash or check, took them for about a year, and been back to "cash or check" at the time of Inspection since then.... I didn't charge extra for taking V/MC and found it a losing proposition with the small number who used it...

Likely just a South Carolina thing... but we ain't backwards, ya'll are!

Yes I did...but the corporate shell that surronds my HI biz...has a merchant account.

And one of my other businesses has one also...I have been taking them for many years....I don't mind paying 2% or less to take them....well worth it in my mind.

I just may take this guy up on the offer though....

Maybe useful for some markets or multiple inspector firms with high volume but I also have little call for credit cards. One or two have asked but if they have to use a credit card for the inspection they might want to rethink their purchase of a new home. It's a great deal for those who feel the need to accept credit cards, though.

I use credit cards to pay for almost everything...in the form of debit card/visa check card/or even frequent flyer miles credit card....

Lots of folks that pay me now with cc....do it for the miles or the cash back or just because it is easier to write one check every month to pay for a variety of things.

In many cases using a cc to pay for something doesn't mean what you say in the quote above. I'm sure in some cases it is true..

I agree that it is often a preference to use a cc or debit card for many transactions but I never had someone cancel or not schedule because I don't take them (and few have even asked).

At least in my market people have yet to release themselves from the love affair with their checkbooks.

It's been my experience that if a client wants to use a CC then they don't mind shelling out a little more for the inspection. It's that frame of mind that they aren't letting that money go right NOW, they can pay for it over the course of 30 days or more if the need be. It's easier to sign a CC receipt for $325 than a check for $325.

Must be how they get the equipment paid for. I can get $10 a month from my bank if I want to accept credit/debit cards.
