What sort of education is REQUIRED to be an MLA? None! As a matter of fact there are actually NO credentials to be one of the politicians who legislated this.... they could have been a used car salesman before they were elected for that matter.[/quote]

Your are right but who's fault is that. We just had an election and elected a 19 year old.

That 19 year old may have a lot of political smarts that the average "joe" doesn't even have a clue about!! Joe wouldn't even know that CPAC existed!!

"Pierre-Luc Dusseault, a 19-year-old student of applied politics at the Universite de Sherbrooke"

"The political neophyte is co-founder and president of the NDP student association."

"Pierre-Luc Dusseault is a self-described political junkie who has been to Ottawa and visited the House of Commons. He also admits to watching a lot of CPAC, the TV channel that broadcasts parliamentary proceedings.
"I know the game," said a confident-sounding Dusseault, who turns 20 on May 31.

I'm worried about why Quebec rejected its historical favourites, whether the PQ gets elected provincially again leading to another burst of sovereignty/separation, etc, etc.

OK I withdraw the comment about the 19 year old. What do I know?
My point is you get the government you elected and it is obvious that a lot of people vote for the party and do not even look at the candidate.
It's also a sad state of affairs when 40% of the votes cast elects a majority government and 60% of the votes cast gets fewer seats.
Does not seem right to me.

Or as was said in a George Bernard Shaw play- "You get the government you deserve!!"

Agree fully!!

The 60% generally consider themselves small "l" liberals but get a Conservative party ruled by neo-conservative, right wing former Reform party types that can't even say the word "progressive". I call them the REGRESSIVE Conservatives.

We need a system of proportional representation!

I'm not sure Vern, but every time I get us licensed when a new license comes out, I learn something that helps us help members. It sort of keeps us in the loop.
