Sarnia home inspector receives national award First Monday, January 2004, page 8

The Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors (CAHPI) has bestowed its highest honour on Bill Mullen, owner of Bluewater Home Inspection in Sarnia.

Mullen says he’s very proud to have been selected from among all association members as the recipient of this year’s Stephen Greenford Award. It is presented annually to recognize the winner’s dedication and contribution to the advancement and development of the home inspection profession in Canada. Mullen recently received the honour in Toronto during the association’s national conference and annual general meeting, at which he was elected to a third consecutive term as CAHPI’s president.

Mullen said it’s an achievement in itself to become president. The process requires winning elections at both provincial and national levels. CAHPI was established nearly 20 years ago and has worked towards a number of goals including raising public awareness of the home inspection profession and interacting with government on such concerns as improving Canada’s housing stock.

One thing people may not realize is that inspecting homes can be dangerous. The award Mullen received is named for a CAHPI member who suffered a fatal fall from a roof during an inspection. Mullen said inspectors can face many potential dangers in houses including unsafe electrical conditions and hazardous materials in places like attics and crawl spaces.

With a background in residential construction, Mullen launched Bluewater Home Inspection about 10 years ago. He has become increasingly busy over the years as more home buyers realize the value of having an inspection before closing a deal. He estimates 50 to 60 per cent of home sales now involve inspections.

Dear N. E.

Please make it clear that I, Bill Mullen, am not the 'Bill' who owes Roy money.

Thanks Bill for the clarification. Its William DeVries and Joe Farsetta that owe Roy money from the last Well Sampler and Commercial Inspection course when Roy was unable to attend. Looks like the ESOP is not reliable and is out to rip people off!

Slight error I was able to attend but when I found out his well course is not approved in any way in Canada I Canceled the course and was told no problem my money would be returned immediately.

Well so much for their promise regardless of the reason you did not attend. Obviously these people do not live up to their words and cannot be trusted and to think Joe is the ESOP Chair.

NACHI owes a debt of gratitude to Roy and Ray. The degree of pain from being expelled by this association has spawned a sadistic obsession with stalking this message board as non-members. One even suits up in a skirt and blonde wig, posed as a cartoon pig, assumed the identity of a talking Kood Aid jug and many others for the oppertunity to take cheap shots at those who didn't pander to his overblown ego. Such desperation goes to show just how personally devistating the loss of their NACHI memberships is ...

NACHI- A membership so valuable that if you get expelled, you will develop an obsession with attacking us on our's and Mike O'Handjob's message board. Just ask Roy, Ray, Lewis, Dan, ... ... ... ...

Ummm..

InterNACHI approves it as does the CMI Board.

Roy , who would approve it? Does the provincial government of Ontario approve these things for home inspectors. Are home inspectors regulated?

Didnt you cancel the check because of this tiff? BTW, if you have a problem with Billy D or I, it's with Billy D or I. The well course coes not involve the ESOP. As I recall, you also cancelled the commercial course. Who would have approved THAT one?

At least be truthful here. Can you do that?

Taking pre-payment for a course implies clearly that the payment buys your seat (whether you want to sit in it or not). If you RSVP for an InterNACHI event, please attend so that the seat you bought and reserved doesn't go wasted and empty.
