Having been a member of OAHI twice and been on more then one of their committees I do know some of how they operate.
When I was a member I never missed a meeting ,in many cases I attended more then one a month, both Kingston and Toronto.
I was always early and stayed late to help set up and close the meeting. Char attended all meetings with me and was also a big help.
I attended all of the conferences and know more about how they operate then most members.
OAHI has a lot of great members but many no longer care much about the association as they are nothing but a money grabbers.
They care less about the newer Home Inspectors but how to get money out of them.
The Board of Directors do not follow the rules and care less about complaints.
I think I was the only one to ever have an appeal heard and I won 5 for me non for OAHI.
I then sued them for my out of pocket expenses and again won settling out of court.
Please do understand many of the BOD are a very vindictive bunch and will do all they can to get rid of free thinkers.
They are a closed door group and still after many years only have about 225 RHIs.
NACHI does more for the Home inspection industry in Canada and helps non members big time as well .
I wish you all the best but if you do not go with the flow you might find they could ostracize you.

Wendy I am surprised as how you would not want new inspectors who are starting into this industry to not know about a group who are completely unethical and do take many peoples money.

Even more of concern is the appointment of Carl Inglis as a TIPR examiner. Hell he couldn't even review members reports in OAHI under the guidelines and was in fact reviewing members reports well beyond the SOP?

Yes the Nazis are alive and well and CAHPI/National buries its head in the sand and denies problems within OAHI. If OAHI can get away with all these breaches how in the h ell do you think they will manage the National? They won't because its the same ole losers appointing one another.
